Carolyn Dixon, age 68 a well-known resident of Washington County, Virginia passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born in Abingdon, Virginia on May 16, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Ake and Maudie Atkins. She was also preceded in death by a loving daughter, Billy Jo Fogleman. She was a former employee of Harwood and aslo The Town of Abingdon where she worked many years. She loved decorating and flowers and spending time working in her garden. She is survived by her husband, Billy Dixon of Damascus, Virginia; her loving son Travis Ray Dixon and wife Christina of Simpsonville, South Carolina; a sister, Maudie Atkins of Abingdon and a brother, Ake Atkins of Bristol, Virginia; a special sister-in-law, Ann Newman of Abingdon, Virginia; A very special friend, Shirley Clark. A Graveside services for Carolyn Dixon will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Michael Roark officiating. The family will gather at Forest Hills by 10:45 on Tuesday. Active pallbearers will be the Employees of the Town of Abingdon that Carol worked with. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Stanley, Mike Warren and Jim Hardwick.
