Kenneth Junior Gill, age 73, of the Smith Creek community, Bristol, Va., passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at his home.

 

He was born April 5, 1945, in Washington County, Va., to the late Roscoe Gill and Pearl Gill Botts.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one sister, Edna Geraldine Morrison Humphrey.

 

He worked for VDOT as a heavy equipment operator for 30 years and was also a lifelong farmer.

 

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sue Gill; three daughters, Karen Mumpower and husband, Larry of Bristol, Va., Kathy Fleenor and husband, Mark of Abingdon, Va., and Leslie Carrier and husband, Todd of Blountville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Jason and Kimberly Mumpower, Sara Fleenor and Mason and Tyler Carrier; two sisters, Louise Barker of Meadowview, Va., and Lennis Crosswhite and husband, Jesse, Sr. of Bristol, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

 

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Robinette and Dr. Higgenbothem for their excellent care.

 

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2018, at Ingle Cemetery, Large Hollow Rd., Bristol, Va., with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating.

 

Pallbearers will be Mark Fleenor, Todd Carrier, Larry Mumpower, Woodrow “Rooster” Brewer, Gary Morrison, Justin Webb and Ricky Webb.  Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Fleenor, Wayne Morrison, Jason Mumpower, Larry Webb and his nephews.
