Betty Margaret Mullen Greer

Damascus, Virginia

Late Friday evening on July 12, 2024, the soul and spirit of our Mother, Granny and Friend passed to the Heavens above.  She was born August 25, 1935 in the beautiful community of Konnarock VA.  Mom was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a member of Wright’s Chapel Methodist Church.

She is survived by her very strong children: Sharon Atkins (Robert deceased), Vickie Parker (Fred), Glenda Tate (Steve) and Mitchel Greer (Kim).  We cannot forget the true shinning stars in her life… her grandchildren and beyond. Amy Perrigan, Erik Tate, Drew Greer, Sage Greer and Jimmy Atkins all put a smile on her face.  Then came along the great grandchildren Alexis Perrigan, Isaac Perrigan, Sydney Tate, Gunner Greer, Madie Hearl, Austin Atkins and Cameron Atkins that added more stars in her life.  But the biggest smile on her face always came with the Great Great Grandchildren Brayton Kennedy, Macie Kennedy, Paxton Perrigan, Jagger Daniels, Milo Perrigan and Baby Perrigan that’s still in the oven and due in December. Last but not least are our extended family members spread all around.

Mom loved music, dancing, clogging, her family and going out to eat.  Honestly, she could eat her weight in oysters! She knew every episode of Gunsmoke, Bonanza and The Rifleman by heart!

She now joins her parents James S. Mullen and Hazel G. Mullen, her loving husband Marvin, sister Charlotte Murphy and son in law Robert Atkins as they all watch over and guide us from the sky above. 

Our family extends our sincere thanks to the staff of Johnston Memorial Hospital especially the team of Comfort Care and Hospice that made her passing so kind.  We will never forget the in-home care provided by Mom's neighbor and dear friend Nancy Hand.

At Mom’s request, a private service will be held by our family.
