Carter Lee Widener Sr.

Carter Lee Widener Sr., age 72, passed away on July 18, 2024, in Abingdon, Virginia.

Carter was born on April 5, 1952, to the late John Widener and Dorothy Barlow Widener. He was a life-long resident of Rush Creek.

Carter was known for his love of all things outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Allen Widener, and sister Olivene Yarber.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Marie “Pebbs” Riley (David), JR Widener (Yalanda), and Bobby Widener; a special friend whom Carter loved as a brother, Larry Parris; five grandchildren, Dustin Trent, Kenny Rouse, Josh Rouse, Jayla Widener, and Samantha Widener; numerous great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Rush Creek Cemetery with Pastor Tracy Puckett officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive by 1:45 P.M.
