1981-2025
Christopher Bland, better known as Bondo or Mater, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
He was born to the late Jackie Lee and Arlene Bland on September 15, 1982, at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his father Jackie Lee Bland; his grandparents Giles “Jake” Bland, Waunita Rogers Bland, Mary Kiser; and one sister Melissa Bland.
What can you say about Chris, except he was born with a smile on his face and a love for sports and music. He never met a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He was a member of Washington County Moose Lodge, where he loved throwing darts, playing cornhole, watching football games on Sundays, and singing karaoke with his many friends.
Chris had a love for his family and friends that was hard to beat. As one of his friends put it, “The world just got a little dimmer after his death”.
Chris is survived by his mother, Arlene Bland; two brothers, David and Danny Bland; one grandfather, Wilson Kiser; several cousins; and an assortment of friends that knew no bounds.
A memorial service for Chris will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, Virginia.
From all of us you left behind, we love you, fly high Chris, until we meet again… God speed.
Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Mr. Christopher Lee Bland.
