David Roark, age 59, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN.
David was born in Smyth County, Virginia on September 24, 1965. He graduated from Independence High School in 1984 before joining the United States Marine Corps. After receiving an honorable discharge due to a medical condition, he went on to spend many years working in the construction industry. David had three children, Nikki, Cody, and Megan, and was the stepfather to Paul Doane after marrying his late wife, Patricia "Trish" Doane. He loved working on practically any project you could think of, from gardening to working on motorcycles to carpentry, David loved to keep busy. When he wasn't working or watching Westerns, football, or the Discovery Channel, David was playing with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Martha Privett (Roark) and Melvin Roark; sister, Bonnie Lou Roark, and his wife, Patricia "Trish" Doane (Roark).
He is survived by his three children Nikki Delp and husband Brandon, Cody Roark and wife Allison, and Megan Roark; his stepson Paul Doane; his sisters Ann Rutherford and husband Lee, Betty Baldwin, and Jeannie Odham; his nieces Amber Rutherford, Kim Rutherford, Autumn Sturdivant, and Michelle Harmon; his nephew Robbie Eller; his grandchildren Marley and Mattox Loggins, Colin Delp, Alaina, Cody Jr., Addison, Jack, and Lilly Roark, and Caitlin and Ryleigh Doane; his uncle James Privett; his aunts Jean Young and husband Jerry, Peggy Russell, Mary Galyen, and Lola Porter; along with several other loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from the First Christian Church of Abingdon with Pastor Cody Roark officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 PM on Thursday at the church.
