Dennis Wayne Salyer, 61, passed away on September 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at his residence.
He was born in Castlewood, VA to the late Vince and Virginia Dean Salyer. Mr. Salyer was a proud employee of MayMead Inc. where he worked a proud 37 years as a heavy equipment operator and supervisor. He made many friends during his career, but above all, he was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who loved and adored his grandchildren.
Survivors include, his loving wife of 25 years, Michelle Taylor Salyer; son, Steven Salyer (Amy); two daughters, Keishia Taylor (Nathan) and Shadow Cantrell (Cory); three sisters, Donna Greer, Diane Wise, and Gail Powers; brother, Mitch Salyer (Teresa); seven grandchildren, Kaylee Cantrell, Baylee Cantrell, Avery Haywood, River Rasnake, Ryleigh Cantrell, Easton Cantrell and Rayden Wampler; also, several nieces, nephews and special friends.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Home Nursing Service of Southwest Virginia and Caris Hospice Care for all their support during this time.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Frost Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Tim Fox officiating. A committal service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the Keith Family Cemetery, 1211 Warren Baker Dr. Castlewood, VA 24224. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:45 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Travis Salyer, Adam Wise, Bobby Helton, Cory Cantrell, Dakota Rasnake, and Nathan Wampler.
Honorary pallbearers are Desi Ward, Sean Mackey, Bart Roark, Wiley Roark and all the employees of MayMead Inc.
