Donald “Don” Wood, 75, passed away May 4, 2021 at Commonwealth Senior Living.
He was born May 5, 1945 to the late Con and Mamie Belle Roberts Wood in Smyth County, VA.
He enjoyed watching westerns and always enjoyed having a good laugh. Mr. Wood was a family man above all else who adored his family especially his grandchildren.
Including his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers; David Wood and James Wood.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Helen Wood; one son, Kevin Wood and wife April; two grandchildren, Olivia and Walker; one sister, Patsy Pless and husband Jim; one brother, Mike Wood; two sisters-in-law, Dixie Wood and Issie Wood; also, several nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to say a special thank you to Amanda, Miranda, Lindsey, Robin and Shirley of Caris Healthcare, Robert Farmer, Michael Frye, Steve Warner and staff of Amedisys, Commonwealth Senior Living staff, and Dr. William Mark Handy.
A visitation will be held from 11 AM until 12 PM Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Frost Funeral Home with a service following at 12 PM with Pastor Craig Barber and Pastoral Care Director Donna Puckett officiating. A committal service will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Alvarado, VA.
Flowers will be accepted as well as donations made to Highlands Food Pantry, 22417 Watauga Rd, Abingdon, VA 24211, and CIDP, 375 East Elm Street, Suit 101, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
In accordance with COVID-19 restrictions, all those attending services are asked to wear face coverings and follow social distancing guidelines.
