Donald Ray Fritz

Abingdon, VA.

Donald Ray Fritz, 67, went to be with the Lord on August 18, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Fritz was born on May 27, 1955 to the late Homer and Nell Sweet Fritz in Abingdon, VA.

He was a truck driver most of his career with spending more than 25 years in the industry while also raising tobacco. He loved to look and tend to flowers and watch the hummingbirds. Mr. Fritz loved being around family and friends at church. Above all, he loved and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Including his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Betty Fritz.

Survivors include, his wife Shirley Fritz; two sons, Travis Fritz and wife Jessica, and Brian Fritz; brother, Jerry Fritz and wife Phyllis; two grandchildren, Zachary Fritz and wife Briana, and Destiny Fritz; two great granddaughters who were the light of his eye, Layken and Summer Fritz; step-daughter, Tonya Puckett; step-son, Chris “Turtle” Lloyd; nephew, Will Fritz; great nephew, Blake Fritz.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Frost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 21, 2022 in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Adam Wise and Pastor Dalton Elliott officiating. A committal service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Steve Baumgardner, Kevin Sweet, Kaden Sweet, Konner Sweet, Rodney Sweet, Jimmy Fritz, Zach Fritz, and Will Fritz.

Honorary pallbearers are Dewey Sweet, Graham Sweet, David Sweet, Dale Baumgardner, and Frank Rude.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Caris Hospice and the staff of Ballad Cancer Center on Island Road.

Flowers will be accepted as well as donations to St. Jude Children Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
