
Donna (Wilson) Dye Hite passed away peacefully on the morning of February 24th, 2025, in Abingdon, Virginia at the age of seventy-four. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly twenty-five years, John Hite, stepsons Brynt Hite and Tom Hite and their families.
Donna was born on March 6th, 1950, to Banner and Dollie Wilson of Honaker, Virginia. Raised in Honaker, she became a graduate of Honaker High School in 1968. In June of the next year she married Wayne Dye, her high school sweetheart. She and Wayne made their home in Swords Creek until the time Wayne unexpectedly passed away in 1997.
After high school, Donna continued her education at Southwest Virginia Community College where she focused on business studies. She went to work at Peoples Bank before coming to work in medical billing at The Clinic in Richlands. In 2005, she retired from there after thirty years of service.
In 1998 Donna and John were set up on a blind date by mutual friends, they were married in the Spring of 2000. They combined their lives and made their home in Abingdon near the headwaters of South Holston Lake. They spent a great deal of their retirement years on the water and traveling the whole of the country from the mountains to the beaches. They developed an enduring love of camping, the outdoors, their numerous dogs, and sharing their time with family and the many friends made along the way.
A visitation will be held at Frost Funeral Home, 250 East Main Street in Abingdon on Saturday, March 01, 2025, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The funeral will begin promptly at 3 o'clock with Pastor Sam Haynes officiating.
