Floyd Allen Riffey, 66, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023, at his home in Abingdon, Virginia.
He was born on July 25, 1956, to the late Ernest and Polly Thomas Riffey. Allen was a
graduate of Abingdon High School and a lifelong student at the school of hard knocks. Allen was the owner of Riffey’s Automotive for over 20 years. He loved his job and his customers. He adored his grandchildren and his family who will remember him as being a man they could count on for anything at any time, and vehicles especially.
In addition to his mother and father, Allen was proceeded by sisters Josie Riffey, Katie Blevins and Lorraine Riffey; brothers, Phillip Riffey and Paul Riffey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Marilyn Riffey; one son Christopher Riffey and wife Melissa of Bristol, Virginia; one brother, Bill Riffey of Abingdon, Virginia; five sisters, Joyce Holmes of Meadowview, Loretta McCray and husband Gary of Hayters Gap, Virginia, Charlotte Denton and husband Terry of Bristol, Virginia, Ruth Day of Ocala, Florida, and Sharon Thomas, of Abingdon; three grandchildren who were the lights of his life, Jaxson Layne Riffey, River Allen Riffey, and Shayla Arnold; two special friends, Bob Rymer of Saltville, Virginia and Leonard Hart of Church Hill, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Sulpher Springs Cemetery in Chilhowie, Virginia with Pastor Jason Nunley officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:45 P.M. for the procession to the cemetery.
