Franklin D. Widner, 80, of the Denton Valley community, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at his home.
He was born January 1, 1938, in Bristol, Tenn. to the late Woodrow and Blanche Pearl Widner. He was an avid Ford man, he often said “there was only one make of vehicle and that was a Ford”. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife Carol Widner; one son, Tim Widner and Debbie Creasong of Bristol, Tenn.; one daughter, Anita Carol Watson of Bristol, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Timberly Widner, Justin Watson, Holly Widner, Tiffany Widner, Anthony Widner, Timothy “Woody” Widner, Zachary Widner and Cody Widner; one step grandchild, Casy Smith; three great grandchildren, Waylon Grizzle, Blake Widner and Skyler Griffith; two step great grandchildren, Brooklyn Canter and Kaylynn Smith; four sisters, Betty Snyder and husband Dean of Shady Valley, Tenn., Sally McClure of Shady Valley, Tenn., Bonnie Wilson and husband Dean of Abingdon and Charlie “Peanut” Wright and husband Donnie of Abingdon; two brothers, Cliff Widner and wife Barbara of Bristol, Tenn. and Chester “Mac” Widner of Abingdon; several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Junior Gobble officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
