Helen Jean Evans, 76, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023, at her home in Abingdon.

She was born January 31, 1947, in Williamson, West Virginia to the late Frank and Jennie Nelson. After living for a time in Kentucky, she moved to Abingdon where she worked for Abingdon Internal Medicine. Helen was a member of Painter Creek Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Evans, Sr. and one daughter, Lisa Dawn.

She is survived by one daughter, Malisa Overbey and husband Fred of Bristol, Tennessee; two sons, Donald Evans II and wife Bambi of Damascus, Virginia and David Evans of the home; four grandchildren, Trey Evans, Savannah Brayles, Brianna Bowman, and Amelia Evans.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Painter Creek Church of Christ. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the church with Minister Mark Gaminde officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery in Abingdon.

Trey Evans, Trent Gravley, Christopher Stanley, Fred Overbey, Tommy Jarvis, and Bruce Olivo will serve as pallbearers.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to the Painter Creek Church of Christ, 24579 Green Springs Road, Abingdon, Virginia, 24211.
