Abingdon, Virginia

James "Jamie" Acie Payne, 51, of Abingdon, VA, passed away on Wednesday, July 12th, due to a workplace accident in Lebanon, VA.

Jamie was born in Welch, WV, on September 11th, 1971, to Sandra and James William Payne. He worked at Steele Fab, which is now Samuel Pressure Group, as a welder and was promoted to Supervisor this past year for 32 years.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Kim Payne; children Harley Payne, Taylor (Ricky) Martin, Austin Johnson, Trent Johnson, and Kaylie Crabtree; his mother, Sandra (Josh) Viers; sister, Annette (Matthew) Miller; niece, Delaney Henley; nephew, Will Austin; grandson, Justin Martin; brother-in-law Steve (Jen) Blair; mother-in-law Wanda Blair; father-in-law Steve Blair; and his special pet Pixie.

He is preceded in death by his father, James William Payne; paternal grandfather, Ballard Payne; paternal grandmother, Rhoda Payne of Paynesville, WV; maternal grandfather, Arnold Blankenship; and maternal grandmother, Thelma Blankenship of Princeton, WV.

Jamie was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed classic rock, outlaw country, cookouts, hanging out with family and friends, grilling, trying new recipes and even making new ones, and cooking his famous fried chicken. Jamie, "Lil Buddy", had a lot of memories with his family and friends. Too many to write down.

Jamie was goofy, fun, loving, incredibly kind, and hardworking. If somebody needed help doing anything, Jamie would drop anything that he was doing and help the person that needed help. His kind and wonderful soul will live on forever. All of us who knew him were better for it.

Per Jamie’s wishes, no formal services will be held; a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Frost Funeral Home and Cremation Services is honored to serve the Payne family.
