
Jerry Wayne Cornett, 74, of Damascus, Va went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 18, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born August 11, 1950, in Washington County, Va to the late Joseph Herbert Cornett and Zona Bernice Cornett.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie Nunley Cornett and one sister, Nancy Cornett Ratcliff (husband Don). Jerry is also survived by one son, Greg Cornett (wife Kim), one daughter, Amy Caywood (husband Jon) and 4 grandchildren: Alex (fiancée Sawyer), Sarah (fiancé Isaac), Cole, and Cade.
Jerry was a lifelong farmer and retired from the United States Postal Service after 26 years.
He also served his country in the US Navy. Jerry was a remarkable individual whose warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew him. Jerry was not just a cherished friend, father, grandfather and husband; he was a guiding light, a source of strength, and a beacon of love. His laughter was infectious, and his spirit was unwavering. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and understood, offering his wisdom and support freely. His passion for life, dedication to family, and commitment to his friends will leave an everlasting imprint in our memories.
Pallbearers are Eric Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Keith Nunley, Mark Nunley, Kevin Nunley, Blake Andis, Kevin Thayer, David Ratcliff and Paul Widener.
Honorary pallbearers are Ralph Lester, Jaye Baldwin, Larry Brown, John Garrett, Rex Cornett, John Parris, and Tom Holliday.
Visitation will be at Frost Funeral Home on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 7:00 P.M.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus at 11:00 A.M.
