Marsha Ruth Heath





Marsha Ruth Heath, age 67, of Washington County, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Born on September 26, 1957.


Marsha was the beloved daughter of the late Z.R. and Rebecca Heath, also preceded in death by brother Dennis Heath.


Marsha is survived by, Sister Rebecca Heath, and brothers: Zack (Patty), Don (Rita), Randy (Rita), Michael (Diana), Eddie (Phoebe), and Glenn (Sandy), Sister-in law Ellen. Marsha also loved each of her many nieces and nephews.


Marsha devoted her life to serving others, both professionally and spiritually. Her career as an educator began in 1979 at the Damascus Rock School, and she faithfully served the Damascus community until her retirement from Rhea Valley Elementary School in 2011. Over her 32-year career, she touched countless lives with her dedication and compassion. A woman of strong faith, Marsha was a devoted member of Abingdon First Assembly of God and a credentialed minister with the Assemblies of God. Her heart for ministry was evident in the many ways she served both inside and outside the church. She taught Sunday School and Wednesday night classes, led a ministry for single women, and served as the church’s administrative assistant. Marsha was also deeply involved in the church’s Jail Ministry, where she shared hope, encouragement, and the love of Christ with those in need. Her life was a true reflection of her unwavering commitment to serving others through faith.Marsha found great joy in spending time with her family and treasured the friendships she shared with her fellow retired school teachers. Her kind spirit, warm smile, and unwavering faith will be dearly missed by all who knew her.


Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21st 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Abingdon First Assembly of God in Abingdon, Virginia with funeral service to follow with Pastor Caleb Cruey and Pastor Roger Williams officiating. Committal will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025, at Rush Creek Cemetery in Glade Spring, Virginia at 11:00 A.M. Those wishing to attend are asked to be at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M.


Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews Abe, Josh, Daniel, and Canaan Heath, Jo’Lon Norman. Also serving as pallbearer Phillip Wilson.


The family would like to extend their gratitude to The Ballad Hospice House of Bristol for their loving care and kindness.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Marsha’s memory to the Abingdon First Assembly of God 250 Phillips ST. NW, Abingdon VA 24210.
