Nannie Mae Burke


Nannie Mae Crusenberry Burke, 86, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at her home.


She was born in Saltville, Va., to the late Robert and Rosa Mae Crusenberry. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. “ Buddy” Burke, Sr. and three brothers, Roy, Herman and Harold Crusenberry.


Nannie was retired from Washington County/Virginia National Bank where she worked over 25 years in the bookkeeping department. Following retirement, she began working alongside her late husband and their son at the family business Burke Print Shop a job she loved for over 20 years. Nannie was a genuine person and this always showed through her caring and giving personality. Her weekly trips shopping for clothes with her two sisters and a good meal were a highlight she always enjoyed.


She was a member of Abingdon Bible Church.


Survivors include her two sons, Joe W. “Joey” Burke, Jr. and wife, Missy; and Steve Burke and wife, Hui-cha; one granddaughter, McKenzie Burke; two sisters, Martha Maiden and Betty Scott and several nieces and nephews.


The family wishes to express their gratitude to Joetta with Home Nursing & Hospice for the care and concern she provided.


A service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2021, in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Knollkreg Memorial Park with Dr. Paul Bufford officiating. Entombment will follow.


In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are suggested to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.


In accordance with Covid-19 regulations, the funeral home requests the use of face coverings and social distancing practices while attending the services.
