Nicholas Shane Cole Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 7, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Nick was a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and a friend to all. He was a hard-working, selfless man who devoted his life to God, family and community.
Nick was born in Richlands, VA. on April 12, 1970 and raised on Bearwallow Mountain in Jewell Ridge, VA. In his youth, Nick was vibrant and full of energy! He had a passion for football, baseball, basketball, riding horses, hunting and fishing. He loved to watch Virginia Tech and Notre Dame football.
Nick loved a great gathering, and everyone knew the moment he arrived! His capacity to share laughter and conversation made his zeal for life infectious to all.
Nick worked for Adelphia Cable for more than ten years and served as a Regional Manager for Classic City Mechanical since 2006.
Nick contributed to his community by coaching his son’s football and baseball teams where his greatest desire was to help young boys develop into men. In addition, he traveled the East Coast as an enthusiastic “Cheer Dad,” known as Lindsey’s number one fan! Nick was known to provide hope and encouragement, compassion and generosity to his fellowman on a daily basis.
Nick was a follower of Jesus and member of Highlands Fellowship Church in Abingdon, VA. where he faithfully served on the Video Production Crew. He loved to see lives changed and gave himself in whatever capacity to help folks draw near to God.
Nick was a proud member of the Abingdon Masonic Lodge #48.
Nick was preceded in death by his grandfather, James William Cole Sr.; maternal grandmother, Margaret Altizer; grandfather Ralph Lloyd Altizer.
He is survived by paternal grandmother Lorraine T. Cole of Abingdon, VA.; his loving parents James William Cole Jr. and Belinda Gay Altizer Cole of Abingdon, VA.; his loving wife of 27 years, Tammy Denise Schweingrouber Cole; his sons, William Zachery Chase Cole and fiancé, Melissa Soward of Denver, CO., Nicholas Shane Cole II of Bristol, VA. and Daughter, Lindsey Taylor Cole of the home; his ever faithful and loving companion, Cooper; two Brothers, James William Cole III and wife, Bobbie Jo Greene Cole of Beavercreek, OH. and Dirik Nathaniel Tait Cole and wife, Daysi Cole of Homestead, Fl; he is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins all over the globe.
Pallbearers include Ray Queen, Shane Cole, Chase Cole, Dirik Cole, Jamie Cole, Scott Cole, Trent Gibson, Ethan Cole
Visitation with the family will be held on Monday January 11, 2021 at Highlands Fellowship Church from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., with the service following the visitation at 1:00 P.M. with Masonic Rites. A private burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made to Abingdon Masonic Lodge for the Shriners Children’s Hospital, or East Coast Cheer of Abingdon, VA.
In accordance with COVID-19 regulations, all those attending services are asked to wear face coverings and follow social distancing guidelines.
