Oliver Ernest Hurd, 79, passed away peacefully on March 03, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 18, 1945 to the late Perk and Kate Dale Hurd. Mr. Hurd was a life time member of the Glade Spring Fire Department. He also served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Hurd retired with the Ball Corporation.
Including his parents, he is preceded in death by, his loving wife of 51 years, Joy Thomas Hurd; two brothers, Gene Hurd and Jack Hurd; and one K-9 companion Angel.
Survivors include, daughter, Wendi Hurd; son, Tim Hurd and wife Jessica; one brother, Marvin Hurd and wife Shirley; four sisters, Doris Hurd, Mary Phibbs, Linda Yarber and husband Allen, and Maxie Hayden and husband Haynes; one grandson, Bradan Hurd; several nieces and nephews, and two grand-pups, Spot and Rip.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 07, 2025 at Frost Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN.
