Paul Earnest Maness, Jr.

Updated: Oct 11

Kingsport, Tennessee

Paul Earnest Maness Jr, 74, entered his heavenly home on October 2nd, 2024. Paul was physically born in Kingsport, Tennessee on July 15th, 1950, but he was spiritually reborn on April 8th, 1973.

Paul was married to the love of his life, Barbara Maness for 51 years. Early in his ministry, he pastored at Maranantha Baptist Temple in Yuma, Va. For many years, Paul was a Sunday school teacher at Charity Chapel Baptist Church in Kingsport, Tn. He was then called to preach at South Chapel Baptist Church in Bristol, Tn, where he gained his second family.

Anybody that knows Brother Paul would know that you could always hear him before you saw him and that he had never met a stranger. He was the last one to be serious, and the first one to crack a joke, even if the timing was a little off.

Paul’s love for his family shined brightly through every sacrifice that he made, good deed that he did or thought that he ever had. Paul sure was smitten with his two girls, but the grandkids that he had were the apples of his eye. That same unwavering love carried through to his church family; he fiercely loved his people. Along the way, Paul touched many lives, and he will continue to live on through each and every one of them.

Paul is proceeded in death by his wife, Barbara Maness, both of his parents, Paul E Maness Sr. and Willie “Tootie” Jo Maness also his brothers Ronnie and Tony Maness.

Paul is survived by his two daughters, Lydia King & Rebekah Maness. His six grandchildren; Jordan & Macey Mason, Arianna Maness, Kaleigha Swain, Jasmyn & Bryson Gunter. Two great-grandchildren, Kingston & Kamari Mason. Also, a favorite niece, Courtney Maness & boyfriend "Earl".

Visitation will be held from 12 PM until 2 PM on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at South Chapel Baptist Church with a funeral service to follow at 2 PM with opening words from Brother Jamie Emmert & Pastor Mike Owens officiating the services. Interment will follow at Potter's Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul's grandchildren & loved ones.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the members of South Chapel Baptist Church for their out-pouring of love & support during this time. And, last but not least, a special thanks to Paul's best friends & Brothers in Christ; Brother Mike Owen's & Brother Randall Seavers.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."-Second Timothy 4:7-8

Frost Funeral Home & Cremation Services is honored to serve the family of Paul Maness.
