Peggy E. Spiva

Peggy E. Spiva, age 73, passed away on October 4, 2024, at Bristol Regional Medical Center, in Bristol, Tennessee.


She was born November 12, 1950, to the late Ernest “June” Canter and Thelma McCracken Canter. She lived all her life in Washington County, Virginia. She enjoyed working, grooming and breeding her dogs, spending time with family, and cooking for them. She loved spending time with grandbabies and spoiling them, going on driving adventures, and sewing and making quilts. She was a very supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spiva was preceded in death by her son, James Allen Moore, her brother, Danny Canter, and her brothers-in-law Kenneth Musick and Michael Moore.


She is survived by her husband, Richard Spiva; her 3 children, Shelly Peters (Larry), Brian Spiva (Stasi), and Angela Keene: special son, Travis Gobble (Charlotte); 6 sisters, Elizabeth Miller (Lawrence), Judy Canter, Juanita Musick, Bonnie Gross (Ken), Cathy Eaton (David), Jane Moore; 1 brother, Stanley Canter (Rhonda); 12 grandchildren, Ricky Goodson (Haley), Jessica Hicks, (Matt), Leonard “Jordan” Spiva (Sydney), Joclyn Spiva, Allie Spiva, Braden Spiva, Richard Spiva II, Brittany Kelsey, Hunter Smallwood, Ashley Moore, Brandon Moore, Hailey Moore: 2 great-grandchildren, Parker Goodson, Noah Nelson, Kaelyn Nelson. She is also survived by special sister-in-law, Louetta Canter Harrison (Dean) and special granddaughter, Sophia Brooks (Symon). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.



A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Frost Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 P.M. in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel.
