Rita Martin Kestner, 70, of Meadowview, Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She left this Earth to be with her Lord surrounded by her loving family.Â
Rita was born on April 9, 1955, to the late Bert and Kathleen Martin. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and aunt, known for her warm heart, joyful spirit, and unwavering faith. Rita cherished time spent with her family, and her favorite pastimes included shopping and camping—especially when accompanied by those she loved. A faithful member of Wesley’s Chapel Community Church, Rita lived her life with grace and kindness.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Alvin Kestner.
Rita is survived by her loving daughter, Tanya Kestner; two brothers, Darrell Martin (Connie) and Gene Martin (Brenda); one sister, Sharon Brewer (Dickie); and her beloved great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom brought her immense joy.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brenda Martin and Sharon Kestner for their unwavering love, care, and support during Rita’s illness.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home Chapel in Abingdon, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Brandon Martin and Pastor Brian Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Woody Bevins, Mack Salyer, Rodney Martin, Mark Hobbs, Luke Hobbs, and Barry Kestner. Honorary pallbearers will include Gene Martin, Darrell Martin, Dickie Brewer, Bill Martin, Darrell Kestner, Fred Wright, and her great-nephews.
Following the service, the family will receive friends at the home of Gene Martin on Hidden Valley Road in Abingdon, Virginia.
