Shirley Mae Buttry

Shirley Mae Buttry, 83, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born July 14, 1939, to the late Harry and Kate Jones Murray. Shirley enjoyed vacations at the beach, but above all, she adored her family and would often cook and bake for them.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Buttry and one granddaughter, Candace Buttry.

Left to cherish her memory are seven children, Kathy (Frank) Neher of Germantown, Maryland, Jimmy (Marie) Buttry of Glade Spring, Virginia, David Buttry of Glade Spring, Becky Buttry of Germantown, Maryland, Mark Buttry of Abingdon, Phillip Buttry of Glade Spring, Virginia, and Connie (Smokey) Parks of Meadowview, Virginia; 14 grandchildren; 10 great - grandchildren; three great - great - grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren also survive.

The family intends to honor Shirley’s wishes and hold a private memorial service at a later date.
