Vivian Worley Lilly

Vivian Worley Lilly, age 80, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at her home.

 

She was born December 5, 1944, in Washington County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Garland Woodrow Worley and Ellen Harr Worley.  She lived her entire life in Washington County and was a 1963 graduate of John S. Battle High School.  She had worked at several places through the years, including Gorden Garment and Harbor House Restaurant.  She retired as cashier at the cafeteria at Wallace Middle School after several years of service.  Vivian was a fun-loving person who was always a joy to those around her.  She was a long-time member of Greendale Chapel and had served as Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Worker, and sang in the Church Choir.

 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John P. Lilly; one son, Keith Lilly; one brother Roy Worley; and one nephew, Ryan McCracken.

 

She is survived by one sister, Lynda MCracken; one niece who was like a daughter and also a caregiver to her, Carrie Woodlief; special friend who was like a son and a great help to her in so many ways, Billy Rhoton and wife Betsy; nephews, Ben and Jake McCracken; Great nephew and niece, Colin and Taylor; several other nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

 

The funeral service will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Greendale Chapel with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating.  Burial will follow at Greendale Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Church from 10:30 A.M. until time of the funeral service.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.  Memorial contributions may be made to Greendale Chapel, P. O. Box 1314, Abingdon, VA   24212.
